Economics & Research at GapMaps
A unique opportunity with global impact has become available for a Senior Consultant to join the Economics & Research team at GapMaps. In this role, you’ll collaborate with leading brands, developers, and investors worldwide, offering expert guidance on the factors driving performance across their existing locations and property assets. Utilising innovative data and technology, you will help grow and optimise our clients store networks as well as drive investment growth across major retail and mixed-use developments.
This role works closely with our Advisory Directors to manage and support the successful delivery of consulting projects, across diverse markets and industries, for both Australian and international clients.
The Role
• Analyse, interpret, report, and deliver qualitative and quantitative data. This includes producing reports and other final outputs of projects
• Take an active part in/lead insight workshops and other collaborative sessions to analyse and model findings and develop conclusions
• Leverage your qualifications, skills, and data expertise to uncover new opportunities and generate insights for strategic projects, as well as contribute to the development of new products and solutions
• Client Advisory, with the use of the latest data and insights, and assist them with their strategic and commercial decision making
• Supply and demand analysis including forecasting and modelling
• Contribute to the development of new products and solutions, evaluation tools/methods, data sets, templates, and improved systems
• Contribute to writing proposals
• International and domestic market research to identify key economic statistics from sources such as the IMF, World Bank, ABS, property publications etc
• Sourcing data sets, researching trends and analysing client data.

You will have
• 5+ years’ experience in a relevant field or similar role
• A bachelor’s degree or master’s in economics, finance, commerce, statistics, property economics or related field
• On-the-ground ‘real life’ experience; including experience analysing economic data to solve complex business problems that can affect property, infrastructure and strategic decision making
• Advanced skills with excel and data modelling software
• Strong mathematical, analytical and data modelling skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills including report preparation and articulating the ‘so what’ from your analysis
• Ability to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to new and complex problems
• Experience in, or an appreciation of, geographic information system (GIS) mapping, network planning and/or property economics.
