“GapMaps has created this easy-to-use tool to help Australians currently in lockdown under a 5 km travel restriction quickly identify and understand the range of essential services in their local area.”

Once on the site, people need to do the following:

1. Enter their address and select a category (or categories) of the service they need

2. Adjust the distance from 0 to 5 km range (the default setting is 5 km)

3. Choose to see the results in a list form or a map format

GapMaps Managing Director and Founder, Anthony Villanti says, “GapMaps has created this easy-to-use tool to help Australians currently in lockdown under a 5km travel restriction quickly identify and understand the range of essential services in their local area.

“Whilst residents may have a good idea on what facilities are nearby, this tool removes the guess work on whether or not they may be in breach of the 5 km restrictions.”

GapMaps has shared details with both the VIC Dept of Health and the NSW Dept of Health, encouraging them to share the tool with residents via their communications channels.

The data for the platform is gathered from a variety of public sources and open datasets.
